La ciudad natal de la banda rinde homenaje a sus históricos músicos
BLACK SABBATH fue honrado ayer 9 de febrero de 2019 con un banco de "Heavy Metal" en su ciudad, Birmingham, Inglaterra. El guitarrista Tony Iommi asistió al evento conmemorativo organizado por Westside Business Improvement District.
El banco de acero inoxidable hecho a mano fue forjado en la ciudad por Gateway Steel Fabrications y presenta imágenes de Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler y Bill Ward con las palabras "Geezer. Ozzy. Tony. Bill. Hecho en Birmingham en 1968".
El banco está ubicado en el puente de BLACK SABBATH
Según BBC News, el banco, fue idea del fan y arquitecto Mohammed Osam, y se colocó en el renombrado puente de Black Sabbath sobre el canal de Broad Street.
Iommi declaró:
"Creo que es absolutamente genial. Me preguntaba qué aspecto tendría, pero es realmente fantástico. me encanta".
La presentación tuvo lugar en la iglesia de St. Luke en la calle Gas.
Al evento también asistió el batería de BLACK SABBATH, Bill Ward, galardonado con su propia estrella en el Paseo de las Estrellas de la ciudad (espacio que honra a las personas famosas de Birmingham).
Esta estrella, junto con otras ya otorgadas a los otros tres miembros del grupo y una quinta estrella a la propia banda, se volverá a alinear luego frente al banco en el Black Sabbath Bridge en forma de cruz.
Las ilustraciones del banco fueron creadas por el artista egipcio Tarek Abdelkawi.
